Bulky Item and E-waste Pick-up

The City’s trash hauler, Athens Services, offers free bulky item and electronic waste pick-ups. Bulky items are large items that will not fit into the trash and recycling containers, and include household appliances, mattresses, furniture and miscellaneous bulky items such as metal pipes, wood and carpet. Miscellaneous bulky items must be cut to four feet in length and bundled with string, and may not exceed a weight of 50 pounds. Items not eligible for bulky item pick-up include construction material, tires, car and boat parts, and other hazardous waste.
Hazardous waste can be dropped off at a household hazardous waste round-up. To find an upcoming household hazardous waste round-up event, call (888) CLEAN-LA.
Electronic waste such as computers and monitors, televisions and cell phones can also be scheduled for curbside pick-up. (Cell phones should be placed in a box on the curb.)
Before scheduling a bulky-item or electronic waste pick-up, consider donating your usable goods to charity. To donate items, call Goodwill Southern Los Angeles County at (562) 435-3411 or the Salvation Army at (800) 95-TRUCK for more information.
To schedule a bulky item or electronic waste pick-up, call Athens Services Customer Services Department at (833) 791-2376 at least 24 hours prior to your regular trash service day. Please specify what types of items are to be removed. Athens Services requests that each bulky item or electronic waste pick-up not exceed five items. Residents who schedule a bulky item or electronic waste pick-up should place the scheduled items at the curb by 7 a.m. on their regular trash day. Residents may drop off u-waste such as batteries and fluorescent light bulbs at the E-Recycling of California facility at 7230 Petterson Lane, Paramount, at no additional charge.
