9/11 10th Anniversary Evening of Remembrance

Cerritos Emergency Response Team (CERT) members were on hand to offer emergency preparedness information. As a tribute to all of the people whose lives were lost on 9/11, stars to symbolize each person were displayed. A fire hydrant pulled from the rubble of the World Trade Center was on display. The children of Cerritos Community College Band Leader David Betancourt sang prelude music. The Cerritos City Council The Cerritos City Council with Supervisor Don Knabe, Assemblymember Tony Mendoza and Cerritos Sheriff's Station Captain Joe Gonzales A full crowd attended the event. Cerritos Councilmember Bruce W. Barrows Radio for the People performed the National Anthem. Cerritos Councilmember Mark E. Pulido Anjilie Gupta shared her essay reflecting on the events of September 11. Cerritos Councilmember Joseph Cho, Ph.D. The New Life Community Church Bell Choir performed patriotic songs. Cerritos Mayor Pro Tem Jim Edwards Cerritos Sheriff's Station Captain Joe Gonzales Congresswoman Linda Sánchez Assemblymember Tony Mendoza Assemblymember Mendoza presented the City with a proclamation. Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe The Surf City Singers perform. Reverend Don Koepke offers a benediction. Stars symbolizing the lives of those who were lost on 9/11 were arranged to form a flag and the letters “USA.”
