Following is a listing of certain upcoming Recreation Services Division programs and activities. Many of the activities require advance registration and participation numbers are limited. Cerritos residents receive priority in registration. To find out about registration dates and procedures, please call the Recreation Services Division Office at (562) 916-1254.

Family Entertainment Showcase

Join us for the Family Entertainment Showcase and enjoy family-oriented fun throughout the summer. These events provide an ideal opportunity for families to build ties of affection, support, teamwork and common interests. All activities are free, including movies, children's entertainment and a variety of concerts. For the enjoyment of all and pursuant to the Cerritos Municipal Ordinance 9.48.030(p), dogs, cats or pets are not allowed in the park during special events and concerts. In addition, pursuant to the Cerritos Municipal Ordinance 9.49.020, smoking is prohibited within the boundaries of all City of Cerritos public park facilities. Monday Night at the Movies

Enjoy popular family and animated classics under the stars in the Liberty Park Amphitheater. Each Monday evening, a different film will be shown. Early arrival is suggested. The amphitheater gates will open at 7 p.m. No chairs of any kind are allowed inside the amphitheater; please bring a blanket for seating. Snacks will be available for a nominal fee.

Tuesday Family Nights

Spend quality time together as a family and a neighborhood. As part of the ongoing Family Enrichment Program, Tuesday nights are devoted to family bonding. Families can enjoy entertainment, programs or activities at four neighborhood parks. Each program will last approximately 45 minutes and will have a pre-show craft, game, or activity from 6 to 6:20 p.m. Please arrive early and bring a blanket for seating and a picnic dinner. Snacks will be available for a nominal fee. Please note that there are no restroom facilities at Friendship Park and Sunshine Park.

Wednesday Little Kids' Big Show

There's fun for the entire family in the Liberty Park Amphitheater with free entertainment and activities. Bring a picnic dinner and enjoy the performance. Early arrival is suggested. The amphitheater gates will open at 6 p.m. No chairs of any kind are allowed inside the amphitheater; please bring a blanket for seating. All shows are approximately 45 minutes in length and will have a pre-show craft or activity. Snacks will be available for a nominal fee.

Thursday Concerts Under the Stars

The Heritage Park Island Stage will be the hottest ticket in town this summer as exciting musical groups perform. Relax with family and friends on a blanket while enjoying a picnic dinner. The shows are outside on the lawn and it does get chilly, so bring a jacket. Snacks will be available for a nominal fee.

Friday Concerts in the Plaza

Enjoy a Friday evening at the Liberty Park plaza as musical groups perform. Relax with family and friends on a blanket or enjoy a picnic dinner. The shows are outside and it can get chilly, so bring a jacket.

Pageant of the Masters and Festival of Arts Excursion

The Pageant of the Masters is the Festival of Arts' crown jewel and one of the most unique productions. It is world-renowned for its artistry and theatrical illusion of living pictures. The theme of the 2018 Pageant of the Masters is "Under the Sun," which highlights artists that depict natural beauty in the outdoors. Bring spending money for souvenirs, snacks and binocular rentals. Ages 8 and over are welcome, but children 12 and under must pay and be accompanied by a paying adult. The cost is $56 for Cerritos residents and $85 for non-residents. On Sunday, July 29, the bus will leave Heritage Park promptly at 5:30 p.m. and return at approximately 11:30 p.m. Waiver is required. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to departure time to fill out required paperwork. Registration for this excursion is non-transferable. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN UNLESS THE TRIP IS CANCELLED BY THE CITY.

Parent/Child Hawaiian Adventure

On Sunday, August 12 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Cerritos Park East, enjoy an afternoon of fun with a Hawaiian flare. Participants ages 2 to 4 will enjoy "island" style crafts and games and learn to hula. Come dressed in Hawaiian attire for even more fun. Staff will guide participants through the activities. Only children must register for the class. Adult participation is required; one child per adult. Only registered children may be brought to class. The cost is $15 for Cerritos residents and $25 for non-residents.
