Following is a listing of certain upcoming Recreation Services Division programs and activities. Many of the activities require advance registration and participation numbers are limited. Cerritos residents receive priority in registration. To find out about registration dates and procedures, call the Recreation Services Division at (562) 916-1254.
Come to the Cerritos Halloween Festival at Cerritos Regional Park, 19700 Bloomfield Avenue, from 5 to 10 p.m. on Friday, October 31. Costume parades, entertainment, special games and carnival booths will be available for participants of all ages at this year's festival. Food and rides will also be available for a nominal fee. For the enjoyment of all and pursuant to the Cerritos Municipal Ordinance 9.48.030(p), dogs, cats or pets are not allowed in the park during special events and concerts. Smoking is prohibited within the boundaries of all City of Cerritos public park facilities, pursuant to the Cerritos Municipal Ordinance 9.49.020.
Want to wander through a maze of wicked ghouls and ugly monsters? This year's haunted house will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday, October 31. Enjoy the thrills and chills of this spooky event. Children under age 8 will not be admitted unless accompanied by an adult. Cost is $2 per person.
Happy Haunt Fun Zone
Bring children ages 5 years and under to Cerritos Regional Park Gymnasium for a safe night of Halloween fun. Games, crafts and entertainment will provide your preschooler with enjoyment throughout the evening as part of the Halloween Festival from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, October 31.
Family Fun Stage
Families are invited to participate in stage activities or visit a fortune teller. Costume parades and group and individual challenges will be held throughout the evening for ages 12 and up. All activities are free and will be held as part of the Halloween Festival from 5 to 10 p.m. on Friday, October 31.
Individuals, 13 and older, and community organizations with an interest in volunteering at the Halloween Festival should call Heritage Park at (562) 916-8570, before Tuesday, October 14. A mandatory orientation meeting for individuals wishing to volunteer specifically for the haunted house will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22 at Cerritos Park East. All volunteers must have an application/waiver on file, be fingerprinted and attend a general volunteer orientation prior to Wednesday, October 22.
This night-time golf event will be held on Friday, November 7 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Cerritos Iron-Wood Nine Golf Course. The fee is $23 per person and features the use of glow-in-the-dark balls. The challenge and fun of playing golf in the dark makes this a very popular event. Cost includes green fees and one nite-light golf ball.
Senior Golf Quarterly Tournament
Seniors 60 years of age and older are invited to participate in the Senior Golf Quarterly Tournament. Fee for the tournament is $13 per person. This fun-filled nine-hole tournament will be held on Thursday, November 6 at the Cerritos Iron-Wood Nine Golf Course. The tournament will be held from 7:30 to 10 a.m. with the first tee time at 7:30 a.m. For more information, please call the Cerritos Iron-Wood Nine Golf Course at (562) 916-8400.
