Following is a listing of certain upcoming Recreation Services Division programs and activities. Many of the activities require advance registration and participation numbers are limited. Cerritos residents receive priority in registration. To find out about registration dates and procedures, please call the Recreation Services Division Office at (562) 916-1254.
Celebrate National Visit a Park Day in Cerritos on Friday, October 7. The National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) celebrates this day to promote the wonders of our natural and treasured resources – local parks. The community is encouraged to celebrate this day by visiting their favorite Cerritos parks. Pick up a passport beginning Saturday, October 1 at one of the Cerritos Recreation facilities. Visit three of the six facilities between Saturday, October 1 and Thursday, October 6 and get your passport stamped. Take your completed passport to one of the six facilities on Friday, October 7 to redeem a commemorative National Visit a Park Day gift, while supplies last. On Saturday, October 15, come see why the Rose Bowl has rightfully earned its title as America's Stadium. Located in Pasadena, California, the historic Rose Bowl is the home to UCLA Bruin football and has hosted nearly 100 Rose Bowl Games, five Super Bowls and numerous concerts. From visiting the original 1992 locker room, to getting an up-close look at the iconic field, guests will enjoy this once in a lifetime opportunity to walk through a National Historic Landmark. Ages 10 and over are welcome, but children under 12 years of age must pay and be accompanied by a paying adult. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. The cost is $29 for Cerritos residents and $43 for non-residents. The bus will leave Heritage Park promptly at 9:45 a.m. and return at approximately 2:30 p.m. Waiver required. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to departure time to complete required paperwork. Registration for this excursion is non-transferable. NO REFUNDS WILL GE GIVEN UNLESS THE TRIP IS CANCELLED BY THE CITY.
Come to the Cerritos Halloween Festival at Cerritos Regional Park, 19700 Bloomfield Avenue, from 5 to 9 p.m. on Monday, October 31. Costume parades, entertainment, and food and game booths will be available for participants of all ages. Food and rides will be available for a nominal fee. For the enjoyment of all and pursuant to the Cerritos Municipal Ordinance 9.48.030(p), dogs, cats or pets are not allowed in the park during special events and concerts. Smoking is prohibited within the boundaries of all City of Cerritos public park facilities, pursuant to the Cerritos Municipal Ordinance 9.49.020.
Happy Haunt Fun Zone
Bring children ages 5 years and under to Cerritos Regional Park for a safe night of Halloween fun. Games, crafts and entertainment will provide your preschooler with enjoyment throughout the evening as part of the Halloween Festival from 5 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, October 31.
Rides and Jumpers
A variety of rides and jumpers will be available. Most rides require each participant to be at least 40” in height. Adults may be required to accompany children on some rides. All participants must have a ticket or wristband to ride or enter jumpers. All rides and jumpers require one ticket. Tickets are $2 each or all-night wristbands may be purchased for $7. Tickets will not be sold after 8:45 p.m.. Bills over $20 will not be accepted.
Families and individuals are invited to participate in stage activities and costume parades throughout the evening. All stage activities are free-of-charge and will be held as part of the Halloween Festival from 5 to 9 p.m. on Monday, October 31.
Individuals, 13 and older, and community organizations with an interest in volunteering at the Halloween Festival should call Heritage Park at (562) 916-8570, before Tuesday, October 11. All volunteers must have an application/waiver on file, be fingerprinted and attend a general volunteer orientation prior to Wednesday, October 12.

All registration for youth basketball leagues for youth born between 1999 and 2011 will be held on the following days at the Cerritos Sports Complex, 19900 Bloomfield Avenue:
Sat., Nov. 5 from 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
Wed., Nov. 9 from 4-8 p.m.
Sat., Nov. 12 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
The non-refundable registration fee includes a team jersey, participation award, officials and Players' Medical Benefit Fund. Basketball participants will be formed into teams for league play. Children born in 2008 or before will be placed on teams according to their age and ability. Basketball games will be played during the months of January through March. Practices and games will be held at various locations throughout the City. BIRTH CERTIFICATES MUST BE PRESENTED AT THE TIME OF REGISTRATION IN ALL DIVISIONS. This night-time golf event will be held on Friday, November 4 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Cerritos Iron-Wood Nine Golf Course. The fee is $23 per person and features the use of glow-in-the-dark balls. The challenge and fun of playing golf in the dark makes this a very popular event. Cost includes green fees and one nite-light golf ball.
Senior Golf Quarterly Tournament
Seniors 60 years of age and older are invited to participate in the Senior Golf Quarterly Tournament. Fee for the tournament is $13 per person. This fun-filled 9-hole tournament will be held on Thursday, November 3 at the Cerritos Iron-Wood Nine Golf Course. The tournament will be held from 7:30 to 10 a.m. with the first tee time at 7:30 a.m. For more information, call the Cerritos Iron-Wood Nine Golf Course at (562) 916-8400.
