Following is a listing of certain upcoming Recreation Services Division programs and activities. Many of the activities require advance registration and participation numbers are limited. Cerritos residents receive priority in registration. To find out about registration dates and procedures, please call the Recreation Services Division Office at (562) 916-1254.

Cerritos Safety Expo

On Saturday, May 19 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Cerritos Park East, the community is invited to this free, family-oriented event that promotes personal safety, aquatics safety and crime prevention. The public will have the opportunity to engage with public safety personnel, experience live demonstrations and see various L.A. County Sheriff's and Fire Department vehicles. Giveaways will be provided (while supplies last).

Cerritos Kids Fishing Derby

On Saturday, June 2, the 2018 Cerritos Kids Fishing Derby will be held at Knabe Community Regional Park, 19700 Bloomfield Avenue. The annual event is sponsored by the City of Cerritos, the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation, and the Cerritos Rod and Gun Club. Activities begin at 7 a.m. with a free pancake breakfast followed by the fishing derby from 8 to 11 a.m. Children, ages 5 to 15 years, can participate in free fishing and angler safety lessons sponsored by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. Each child will receive a free T-shirt and be eligible to compete for prizes in various categories.

Youth Boys and Girls Basketball League

Registration for the Cerritos resident only Youth Boys and Girls Basketball League will be held at the Cerritos Sports Complex on Saturday, May 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Wednesday, May 30 from 4 to 8 p.m. The non-refundable $47 registration fee includes a team jersey, officials, scorekeepers, Players' Medical Benefit Fund and awards. Participants will be formed into teams for league play. Games will be played on Fridays, 6 to 9 p.m., from July 6 through August 24.
