"Parks make life better!"
Following is a listing of certain upcoming Recreation Services Division programs and activities. Many of the activities require advance registration and participation numbers are limited. Cerritos residents receive priority in registration. To find out about registration dates and procedures, call the Recreation Services Automated Information Hotline at (562) 916-1260 or the Recreation Services Division Office at (562) 916-1254.
Santa has asked the Recreation Services Division to set-up a special post office box to receive letters from Cerritos boys and girls who wish to write to him. Letters will be forwarded to the North Pole. Letters must be received by the Recreation Services Division on or before Friday, December 13. Letters should be addressed to: Santa Claus, North Pole, P.O. Box 3130, Cerritos, CA 90703. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope to receive a response.
Surf onto the City of Cerritos Homepage and e-mail a greeting to Santa! A special e-mail address has been set up by the City so children up to age 11 can send their holiday wishes electronically. Santa is very busy this time of year so the site will only be open Monday, December 2 through Friday, December 13. E-mail Santa and watch for his link on the Cerritos HomePage at cerritos.us.
Children ages 4 to 8 years will be busy little elves playing holiday games, making a simple gift and singing holiday songs! This is the perfect opportunity for Mom and Dad to run some holiday errands while kids get in the holiday spirit. A light snack will be provided. The workshop will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 15 at Cerritos Park East. Cost is $16 for residents and $24 for non-residents. Parents are required to sign children in and out of the class.
Families are invited to enjoy some holiday cheer by visiting Santa Claus at the Heritage Park Play Island! Enjoy crafts, music and caroling. Don't forget to bring a camera! Families are encouraged to bring two canned goods or a new, unwrapped toy to be donated to local food charities and holiday gift programs such as Toys for Tots®. This free event will be held on Saturday, December 14 from noon to 3:30 p.m. at Heritage Park.
