Recreation Services Program Highlights

Following is a listing of certain upcoming Recreation Services Division programs and activities. Many of the activities require advance registration and participation numbers are limited. Cerritos residents receive priority in registration. To find out about registration dates and procedures, please call the Recreation Services Division Office at (562) 916-1254.

Cerritos Resident Talent Show

Start the music! Light the lights! The stage awaits prospective Cerritos resident performers to participate in the annual citywide Talent Show on Saturday, April 11. Performers, ages 4 to adult, who can sing, dance or play a musical instrument, are invited to audition. Group performances are allowed and may have a maximum of six members; 50 percent or more of each group must be Cerritos residents. Acts are limited to four minutes maximum. All recorded accompaniment music must be in CD format. The number of entries in each performance category in each age division is limited. Categories may be combined for judging if an inadequate number of participants exist. Auditions must be comprised of material to be used in the actual show (if performer is chosen). A limited number of acts will be selected through the audition process to perform in the show. Awards will be given.

Calls for audition appointments will be taken at Cerritos Park East beginning February 9. Qualifying acts will be notified by March 16 and must be present for the full dress rehearsal on Friday, April 10. Seating for the show will be on a first-come, first-served basis and doors open at 5:30 PM. For more information or to make an audition appointment, please call Cerritos Park East at (562) 407-2611.

Festival of Friendship

The City of Cerritos and the Let Freedom Ring Committee, in conjunction with the Los Cerritos Center, invite participants to attend the annual Festival of Friendship on Saturday, February 7, 2015 from noon to 4 p.m. The festival provides the community with a unique opportunity to learn about the City's rich diversity through a variety of cultural acts performed on several stages throughout the mall. Local community groups will be the featured entertainment as they display an assortment of ethnic songs and dances of their native cultures. Visit each stage to obtain a special commemorative gift. Golf Tournaments

Community Open Best Ball Tournament

The Cerritos Iron-Wood Nine Golf Course will play host to this 18-hole, shotgun start tournament. Win prizes for the longest drive and closest to the pin at pre-selected holes, as well as, a chance to win a special hole-in-one prize for cash and other awards. The tournament will be held on Saturday, January 10 from 8 a.m. to noon. Fee for the tournament is $44 per person.

Senior Golf Quarterly Tournament

Seniors 60 years of age and older are invited to participate in the Senior Golf Quarterly Tournament. Fee for the tournament is $13 per person. This fun-filled 9-hole tournament will be held on Thursday, January 15 at Cerritos Iron-Wood Golf Course.
