Following is a listing of certain upcoming Recreation Services Division programs and activities. Many of the activities require advance registration and participation numbers are limited. Cerritos residents receive priority in registration. To find out about registration dates and procedures, please call the Recreation Services Division at (562) 916-1254.

Community Spring Festival & Fireworks Spectacular Celebrating the City's 64th Anniversary

Museum of Illusions Excursion

The Museum of Illusions is a fun-filled place that questions reality. The museum has more than 30 three-dimensional illusions and an Upside Down house that features seven rooms. Flash photography is permitted. Ages 6 and over are welcome, but children under 13 years of age must pay and be accompanied by a paying adult. The bus will leave Heritage Park on Saturday, March 21 promptly at 12:15 p.m. and return at approximately 6 p.m. Waiver is required. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to departure time to complete required paperwork. The cost is $56 for Cerritos residents and $84 for non-residents. Registration for this excursion is non-transferable. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN UNLESS THE TRIP IS CANCELLED BY THE CITY.

Cerritos Resident Talent Show

Start the music! Light the lights! The stage awaits prospective Cerritos resident performers to participate in the annual citywide Talent Show on Saturday, April 4. Performers, ages 4 to adult, who can sing, dance or play a musical instrument, are invited to audition. Group performances are allowed and may have a maximum of six members; 50 percent or more of each group must be Cerritos residents. Acts are limited to four minutes maximum. All recorded accompaniment music must be in CD format. The number of entries in each performance category in each age division is limited. Categories may be combined for judging if an inadequate number of participants exist. Auditions must be comprised of material to be used in the actual show (if performer is chosen). A limited number of acts will be selected through the audition process to perform in the show. Awards will be given.

Qualifying acts will be notified by Friday, March 13 and must be present for the full dress rehearsal on Friday, April 3. Seating for the show will be on a first-come, first-served basis and doors open at 5:30 p.m. For more information, please call Cerritos Park East at (562) 407-2611.

Parent/Child Springtime Eggs & Aprons

Join us on Sunday, April 5 for an afternoon of themed activities from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Liberty Park. Participants ages 2 to 4 years old will decorate their own springtime apron, make various springtime crafts and decorate plastic eggs to hide special treasures or to display at home. Adult participation is required; one adult per child. The cost is $17 for Cerritos residents and $26 for non-residents.

Easter Egg Hunts

Come to the Easter Egg Hunts on Saturday, April 11 and search for colorful, surprise-filled eggs and a variety of spring candy at Knabe Community Regional Park, 19700 Bloomfield Avenue. Be sure to bring an Easter basket to carry goodies. The hunts are open to children 18 months to 10 years and kids will be divided by age group for the hunts. One (1) adult will be permitted to assist their child in the 18 months to 2 years and the 3 to 4 years hunt area during the designated hunt time. The hunt will begin promptly at 10 a.m. and the day will also include jumpers, games and a craft area. Light snacks and beverages will be available for a nominal fee.

Community Spring Festival & Fireworks Spectacular Celebrating the City's 64th Anniversary

In honor of the 64th anniversary, the City of Cerritos will host a three-day festival at the Cerritos Sports Complex that will include carnival rides, games and food. A fireworks show will be featured on Saturday, April 25 at 8:30 p.m. Entertainment will showcase local talent and professional acts on the main stage. Gourmet food trucks will be on hand to provide an assortment of specialty menu items for purchase. There is no admittance fee to the festival. Rides in the carnival area will require tickets. All-day ride wristbands are also available for purchase.
