Following is a listing of certain upcoming Recreation Services Division programs and activities. Many of the activities require advance registration and participation numbers are limited. Cerritos residents receive priority in registration. To find out about registration dates and procedures, please call the Recreation Services Division Office at (562) 916-1254.

Aquatics Safety Expo and Fun Day

On Saturday, May 20 from 1 to 4 pm, the Recreation Services Division invites the community to this free event in celebration of National Aquatics Safety Month in May. Featured interactive demonstrations are designed to keep your family safe around bodies of water. Learn about the assortment of aquatics programs and activities offered year-round at the Cerritos Swim and Fitness Center.

Lyon Air Museum Excursion

The Lyon Air Museum in Orange County is comprised of authentic aircraft, rare vehicles and related memorabilia, with an emphasis on the defining event of the 20th century – World War II. Through captivating and thought-provoking exhibits based in historical learning, visitors gain information and an understanding of the important role the United States played in shaping world history. On Sunday, May 21, participants will get a guided tour inside the hanger, getting up close to some of the most fascinating historical machinery and memorabilia. Bring spending money for a souvenir from the small shop; there are no concessions at the museum so please eat before the trip. Ages 5 and over are welcome, but children under 13 years of age must pay and be accompanied by a paying adult. The bus will leave Heritage Park promptly at 12:30 p.m. and return at approximately 4:30 p.m. Waiver required. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to departure time to fill out required paperwork.

Registration Fees:
Cerritos Residents: Ages 5 to 12 years – $12 and Ages 13 to adult – $25
Non Residents: Ages 5 to 12 years – $18 and Ages 13 to adult – $37

Registration for this excursion is non-transferable. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN UNLESS THE TRIP IS CANCELLED BY THE CITY.

Youth Boys and Girls Basketball League

Registration for the Cerritos resident only Youth Boys and Girls Basketball League will be held at the Cerritos Sports Complex on Saturday, May 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Wednesday, May 31 from 4 to 8 p.m. The non-refundable $47 registration fee includes a team jersey, officials, scorekeepers, Players' Medical Benefit Fund and awards. Participants will be formed into teams for league play. Games will be played on Fridays, 6 to 9 p.m., from July 7 through August 25. Cerritos Kids Fishing Derby

On Saturday, June 3, the 2017 Cerritos Kids Fishing Derby will be held at Don Knabe Community Regional Park, 19700 Bloomfield Avenue. The annual event is sponsored by the City of Cerritos, the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation, and the Cerritos Rod and Gun Club. Activities begin at 7 a.m. with a free pancake breakfast followed by the fishing derby from 8 to 11 a.m. Children, ages 5 to 15 years, can participate in free fishing and angler safety lessons sponsored by the California Department of Fish and Game. Each child will receive a free T-shirt and be eligible to compete for prizes in various categories.
