Leelin Bakery and Cafe

Updated November 19, 2020

Proclamation presented February 22, 2018 to Leelin Bakery and Cafe at Cerritos City Council Chambers.

Since 1976, the Leelin family business has served the Filipino American community in the United States by offering authentic Filipino cuisine at affordable prices. The Leelin family’s manufacturing operations started in the City of Azusa and then expanded in the early 1980s in Los Angeles and West Covina. The company’s founders opened their first food manufacturing and retail establishment under the license of Goldilocks Corporation.

In 1991, the family-owned company moved to the Artesia-Cerritos area. This location served as the new central manufacturing plant and corporate office, and a new retail store also was established on the premises to cater to retail customers. Ten years later, another store in Panorama City opened. That same year, the Leelin family moved its manufacturing plant and corporate office to a 40,000-square-foot facility in Santa Fe Springs.

In 2002, the company opened its flagship restaurant and bakery in the City of Cerritos. Three years later, another store was opened at the Eagle Rock Mall in Los Angeles. There are three generations of the Leelin family, with Manuel (Popsy) and Teresa (Momsy) Leelin being the first generation. Mendrei and wife Cecile, younger brother Menard and wife Yojie and younger sister Carmela are the second generation Leelins to run the company. Menard’s oldest son, Michael, is the third generation Leelin who currently heads the company’s store operations.

In February 2014, the company rebranded its retail outlets from Goldilocks to Leelin Bakery and Cafe. The manufacturing facility was renamed Goodness Corporation of California. Today, Goodness Corporation of California services the company’s six Leelin Bakery and Cafe locations, which include Cerritos, Eagle Rock, Panorama City, North Hills, West Covina and Los Angeles. Customers throughout the United States can order bakery products through the company’s online store at leelinbakerycafe.com.

The company’s expansion and rebranding have positioned it as an industry leader that provides a wide range of innovative, high-quality, affordable food products and services to meet the demands of its diversified, rapidly-growing clientele, as well as emerging markets. Leelin Bakery and Cafe is now a recognized icon of Filipino cuisine, with a product line that includes pastries, breads, sweets, delicacies and traditional Filipino dishes. The company’s mission is to bring the best of Filipino cuisine and culture to everyone around the world.
