Orchard Supply Hardware (Orchard) is a neighborhood home, hardware and garden retailer that is focused on offering products and guidance to customers regarding how to tackle projects and keep their homes humming. Established by a northern California farming collective in 1931, the supplier has maintained its community focus for more than 85 years by building stores that are unique to the neighborhoods they serve. The Cerritos Orchard store opened in March 2015 and currently employs more than 80 full-time and part-time employees from the local community.
Throughout the three years of serving the Cerritos community, store manager Tony Pearson and his team of neighborly experts have enjoyed helping customers with everything from drought gardening advice to seasonal home maintenance guidance. The Cerritos store offers the highest quality products in major hardware, home and garden categories from nationally trusted brands such as Benjamin Moore, Weber Grills, BOSCH and Craftsman. Shoppers can take advantage of helpful in-store services like key cutting and rescreening at the workbench, and a lifetime plant guarantee in the nursery. These are just a few ways Orchard aims to help customers make life at home a little more enjoyable.
The Cerritos store also offers seasonal community events the whole family can enjoy, including kids’ crafts, emergency resource planning and holiday celebrations. In October, the Cerritos store hosted two Halloween tutorials that provided kids and parents a fun and educational opportunity to get hands-on with tools, materials and project guidance from store associates.
As part of Orchard’s community engagement program, Neighbors Helping Neighbors, the store team has worked with several local organizations on various community betterment programs. The Cerritos store also donated items to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department and Cerritos Sheriff’s Station to help raise money for the 999 FOR KIDS Program. This money helped to purchase special items and services for these children, including sport wheelchairs, computers, special education classes, medically-oriented toys and games.
The Cerritos store also donated material to a local Eagle Scout who wanted to help beautify a church in Cerritos by painting the fire lane in the church’s compound. The Cerritos store has donated pots, aprons and painting materials to the Cerritos Library for children to conduct arts and crafts activities. Through volunteer labor and in-kind donations, these efforts allow Cerritos Orchard associates to get out into the neighborhood and help where it’s needed most.
The Cerritos store is open to the community seven days a week, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
