Founded in 1985, Young Systems is one of the largest technology distributors in the office-automation industry. Partnered with more than 30 of the leading technology brands such as Canon, Cisco, Dell, HP, Kyocera and Sharp, Young Systems has an expansive solutions portfolio to serve any business-technology need ranging from document scanners, multi-function printers, wide-format printers and servers/workstations, as well as software solutions.
The story of Young Systems began with president and founder Young H. Lee. Lee and his wife June traveled from Seoul, South Korea, to New York after getting married in 1975. Lee’s new job was to develop an import-export market for his employer who was headquartered in Seoul. After spending many winters on the east coast and after a request by his wife for a change to a warmer climate, Lee moved his family to Southern California and ultimately settled down in Cerritos. Using the knowledge and contacts he had gained during the past decade, Lee decided to start his own company. He started his new business out of his garage in Cerritos. Having begun as a family business, Young Systems has always regarded its staff and customers as an extension of the company’s own family.
Since its beginnings, Young Systems has grown, making the “Los Angeles Business Journal’s” “Top 100 Fastest Growing Companies in Los Angeles” and “Top 100 Minority Owned Companies” lists numerous times. Lee attributes his company’s success to his staff’s dedication and his customers’ loyalty, which Lee continually works to develop and maintain by making sure that his customers have access to an expansive product line at consistently competitive pricing.
To remain a step ahead of the ever-evolving business climate, Young Systems has continued to innovate over the years and to adapt to the changing needs of the business community. In addition to becoming a primary distributor, Young Systems has also become a leader in managed print and information technology services. Through data driven analytics, Young Systems has been able to assist organizations in the healthcare, finance and legal fields to optimize efficiencies and reduce operational costs.
Both personally and professionally, Cerritos has been home to Young Systems. Vice President Donald Lee (eldest son to Young and June Lee) grew up in Cerritos and attended Cerritos Elementary School, Carmenita Junior High School and Whitney High School. After graduating from the University of California, San Diego, Donald returned to help with the family business and has participated in a number of community events sponsored by the ABC Unified School District. Young Systems is an active member of the Cerritos Chamber of Commerce. Anna Rodriguez, who has been with Young Systems for seven years, currently serves as both an ambassador and co-chair for the Chamber.
