In 1999, Craig Hofman, founder of Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que, opened his first restaurant in Long Beach, California, after a two-year journey through the Southern states of America to find the best barbeque. Picking up culinary inspiration from some of the best barbeque shacks, Hoffman discovered the secret ingredient that all of his favorites seemed to share: friendliness. When Hofman finally made his way back to California, he distilled everything he learned into what became Lucille’s driving philosophy, which is “serving the best Bar-B-Que with the finest Southern hospitality.”
Lucille’s restaurants have a Southern Pride smoker in the dining rooms where succulent cuts of brisket, tri-tip and ribs are smoked “low-and-slow” to perfection with a variety of authentic sauces from different regions around the South. Lucille’s is known for its baby back pork ribs, BBQ tri tip, southern fried chicken and many other delicacies that are made from scratch. Lucille’s has an extensive menu of Southern food, which includes its famous smoked BBQ half chicken, Texas style beef brisket and St. Louis spare ribs.
Lucille’s also offers specialty dishes such as Mardi Gras Chicken, New Orleans Gumbo, Pop's Beloved Fresh Pan Blackened Catfish and jambalaya. Additionally, Lucille’s offers burgers, sandwiches, a family style menu and a delicious kids menu. Lucille’s has a full bar that offers beers, wines and cocktails. Lucille’s caters events such as corporate gatherings, weddings and good old-fashioned picnics, and it aims to make every occasion a memorable and delicious one.
Lucille’s has won many awards and honors, including dozens of local “Best of” awards in each of its markets. Currently, there are 22 Lucille’s restaurants throughout California, Arizona and Nevada.
