Proclamation presented February 23, 2017 to Lexus of Cerritos at Cerritos City Council Chambers.

Lexus of Cerritos

In 1989, Lewis Webb, founder and president of the Webb Automotive Group, was selected by Toyota Corporation to represent the new luxury division of Toyota called Lexus, and received one of 81 initial dealerships to be awarded nationwide.  At the time, Webb owned seven dealerships, including three Toyota stores. Two of his dealerships were located in the Cerritos Auto Square — Toyota of Cerritos and Buick Mart.

Lexus of Cerritos was among the first Lexus dealerships to open in the United States. It officially opened for business in August of 1989 at the southwest corner of Studebaker Road and 183rd Street. It was a great location and was an attractive dealership in appearance with a large crystal chandelier and a grand Disklavier piano. It was elegantly decorated by Webb’s wife, Margie Webb, and the dealership was the recipient of the City of Cerritos City Wide Pride Beautification Award in 1992 for its wonderful appearance.

Due to increased sales, Lexus of Cerritos quickly outgrew its initial location; therefore, in 1999 the dealership exchanged locations with the larger Buick Mart location and relocated up the street adjacent to Toyota of Cerritos where it continued to set records for sales and service. In the fall of 1997, after being approached by Republic Enterprises (renamed AutoNation in later years), and following months of negotiating, Webb agreed to sell the Webb Automotive Group, which at the time consisted of eight dealerships and two body shops.

Lexus of Cerritos has always been a top performing store for sales, service and parts. It has received numerous awards over the years from the Toyota Corporation for exceptional performance. For the 2016 fiscal year, Lexus of Cerritos finished the year ranked No. 6 in the Western area (out of more than 70 Lexus stores) and has a ranking of 22 out of 280 Lexus dealerships nationwide. The dealership carries sedans such as the IS, ES, GS and LS. Additionally, it carries popular SUVs such as the RX, GX and the new turbo-charged NX. The dealership also has a pre-owned inventory, including Lexus-certified pre-owned vehicles. Lexus of Cerritos also has a collision center that performs all collision repairs to the highest standards set by the manufacturer.

Under Webb Automotive’s ownership, Lexus of Cerritos was always socially conscious, and under AutoNation ownership that track record continues. Over the past 27 years, Lexus of Cerritos has supported numerous schools, charities and non-profits. Some of the many organizations include Casa Youth Shelter, Los Alamitos High School, Servite High School, CHOC (Children Hospital of Orange County), Crenshaw Christian Center, St. Dominic Savio Youth Center and many others. Lexus of Cerritos also sponsored the Cerritos Sheriff’s Station relay race from Baker, California to Las Vegas, Nevada.

Lexus of Cerritos is located in the World Famous Cerritos Auto Square at 18800 Studebaker Road. It is staffed with more than 130 capable sales, service, parts and support personnel. The sales department is open seven days a week from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. The service and parts departments are closed on Sunday, but are open six days a week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, with Saturday hours from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The phone number is (562) 263-7857 and the website is lexuscerritos.com.
