The origins of Qwik Response Construction date back to 1921 when Mark Knight's grandfather bought a small carpet cleaning business in Ventura, California. Mr. Knight is a third generation restoration contractor, with his children now serving the company as the fourth generation.
"I can remember as a young teenager working with my father on flooded homes. We would spend hours sucking out the water, pulling out the carpets, drying them and then reinstalling them. A lot has changed since then, as technology hit the industry starting in the early 1980's. Today we are one of the largest and well-known restoration contractors in the Tri-Counties" said Mr. Knight, who serves as President and Chief Executive Officer.
It was then in the mid 1980's that Qwik Response Construction opened its first small office in Cerritos, where it shared space with a machine shop. Prior to that, Mr. Knight and his wife ran the business from their home. "I had chosen Cerritos for our location as it was very central to the areas I was servicing. It was not long before I needed my own space. We leased a unit in the same complex on Piuma Ave in Cerritos. I have been in this commercial complex for almost 30 years now" said Mr. Knight. Qwik Response Construction now occupies 7,000 square feet of space and has 29 employees.
Qwik Response Construction operates a 24-hour, seven-days-a-week property restoration service. The company resolves fire and smoke damage and performs water, sewage, mold and sewer remediation. Additionally, they provide remediation services for all type of asbestos. Qwik Response Construction is a fully licensed general contractor that handles every aspect of a project from drywall to baseboards and flooring to roofing.
Qwik Response Construction specializes in fire and flood restoration for insurance companies and is the largest provider of warranty services for new home builders in California. The company's insurance clients include State Farm Insurance, Allstate, Farmers, USAA, The Hartford, Safeco and AAA. Some of the builders they service are Standard Pacific, KB Home, William Lyon Homes, Pardee, Richmond America, Lennar, DR Horton and Ryland.
Qwik Response Construction has never moved from its Cerritos location because it is a centralized location for its business. The company services Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties from its Cerritos headquarters. "You just cannot beat the freeway accessibility. That is perfect, as we are in the emergency service business and must respond quickly. It has also been an advantage for us to be in Cerritos as it has given us excellent access to all the major insurance carriers' claims offices. Some of these are right in Cerritos," said Mr. Knight. "There is just no better place for us to conduct business. I have completed several projects in Cerritos and the building department has always been helpful and professional."
While Cerritos is the corporate headquarters, the company has expanded into three other states and also has locations in Santa Barbara and San Jose.
