Proclamation presented March 27, 2014 to QTrade Teas & Herbs at Cerritos City Council Chambers.
Established in 1994 by Manik Jayakumar, and currently celebrating its 20th year, QTrade Teas & Herbs is an ingredient and service provider for America's rapidly expanding tea industry. Steeped in more than a century of garden-level expertise, QTrade Teas & Herbs helped pioneer the specialty tea industry.
QTrade is also the largest supplier of organic teas in North America, supporting clients by providing product development services, contract manufacturing (blending and packing of hot and iced teas) and expert sourcing and supply chain management services. QTrade's clients include the largest tea brands and tea retailers, coffee roasters, foodservice and bottled drink brands.
In 2011, when evaluating locations to purchase a building and lay the physical foundation for a dramatic expansion of its operation, QTrade choose Cerritos as an ideal contender, primarily due to the exceptional quality of its school district and the ease and clarity provided during the permitting process. An unexpected benefit, only apparent after moving, is Cerritos' very vibrant multi-ethnic food culture, which has been a source of constant inspiration for QTrade's product development team.
Currently, QTrade's new state-of-the art facility blends up to 40,000 pounds of tea per day, packs 300,000+ iced tea bags and inventories more than 2 million pounds of teas and herbs. QTrade is a USDA-certified organic handling facility and the largest supplier of organic and Fair Trade certified tea in North America. QTrade is also working toward obtaining the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) certification, which is the highest level of food safety certification.
