What started in 1972 as a "put-your-shingle-out-front" dental office at 12622 South Street in Cerritos has grown into a 2,500-square-foot state-of-the-art dental practice providing comprehensive dental care for the whole family. There is quite a legacy behind this successful practice that has been serving Cerritos for more than 40 years.
The practice was founded by Dr. Eric Vaughters. In 1975, when Cerritos was the fastest-growing city in California, he hired a young, inspired dentist, Dr. Chris Martin, who was had just completed his service in the United States Air Force. Dr. Vaughters and Dr. Martin practiced together until Dr. Vaughters' departure from the area in 1982. The practice continued to grow significantly, requiring a very busy and overworked Dr. Martin to take on a new partner. Imagine Dr. Martin's surprise when one day he received a letter from Dr. Jay M. Azling, a motivated dentist who had recently graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles and was looking for an opportunity.
From the moment that Dr. Azling joined the office in 1988, a strong partnership was forged with a practice philosophy that emphasized treating employees and patients like family. Dr. Martin and Dr. Azling partnered together for 17 years until Dr. Martin's retirement in 2005. After a grand retirement celebration at the Cerritos Library Skyline Room, Dr. Azling took over the reigns and has successfully managed the practice ever since.
Dr. Azling and his dedicated team strive to provide excellent family and cosmetic dental care in a friendly, comfortable environment. The motto of his dental team is based on the following: "and just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise". This has been the foundation of the practice's success. By treating others how they themselves want to be treated — with compassion, comfort, and a commitment to excellence — Dr. Azling and his dental team have earned a reputation as a great group to go to for your dental needs.
