“Ocean Dancer”

Updated December 23, 2009

Ocean Dancer

When a new shopping center was envisioned for the northeast corner of Bloomfield Avenue and Artesia Boulevard, the City of Cerritos and the developer, Real Estate Affiliates, worked together to include a beautiful entrance to the City.

The team commissioned artist Lyle London to create “Ocean Dancer,” a 9-foot-tall bronze sculpture balanced in the center of a 16-foot-diameter fountain, designed by London and artisan Dave Wooten, with water cascading down tiers of copper and granite. The fountain features “City of Cerritos” in copper script and is lit at night with colored base lighting.

The City shared the cost of the $100,000 installation, which is the centerpiece of the 40,000-square-foot Cornerstone shopping center, which opened in September 1998.
