Cerritos Volunteers Against Graffiti

Updated December 23, 2009

Volunteers Against Graffiti Sought

Citizens of Cerritos can help keep Cerritos a beautiful place to live and work. Community service groups, high school service clubs, parent-teacher associations, Neighborhood Watch associations, church groups, families and individuals are invited to join Volunteers Against Graffiti to clean up and deter graffiti.

Volunteers Against Graffiti groups express their pride in Cerritos by painting over graffiti which blemishes the City's parks and other public areas. Volunteers Against Graffiti is a vital part of the City's graffiti removal effort. Swift removal of the vandalism is an excellent deterrent since it discourages vandals from creating more graffiti.

Graffiti Removal Assignments

Groups that join Volunteers Against Graffiti are assigned to a park, the Cerritos Senior Center at Pat Nixon Park, or section of the City. The groups are then responsible for keeping the public areas of their section free of graffiti. Volunteers Against Graffiti may perform graffiti removal seven days a week, between the hours of dawn and dusk.

Volunteer Training

Volunteers Against Graffiti are trained by the City's Public Works Department on the proper methods for removing graffiti from walls and other structures.

Supplies for Graffiti Cleanup

The City provides Volunteers Against Graffiti groups with all the supplies necessary to remove graffiti from their sections of Cerritos. Designated group members can pick up paint, rollers, brushes and other supplies from the City's Corporate Yard, located at 16540 Marquardt Avenue. Materials can be collected at scheduled times set by the Public Works Department.

Requests for Graffiti Removal

Volunteers Against Graffiti groups are responsible for frequently checking their assigned areas for graffiti. Any graffiti spotted within their areas should be removed in a timely fashion. In addition, the City's Public Works Department staff may contact groups to request the removal of graffiti reported to the City in their areas.

Becoming a Volunteer Against Graffiti Group
