Give your home's exterior a spring cleaning

Updated April 6, 2020

Just a few touch-ups can bring new life to your home this spring and give it what realtors call "curb appeal."

A new exterior paint job can give your home a clean and bright look and protect it from wear and termites. Stop by City Hall's Community Development counter for a quick review of the paint samples you plan to use, or browse through a photo album full of ideas for paint and trim combinations.

Flowers, trees and a well-tended lawn can also work wonders. At least 40 percent of your front yard should be landscaped to help maintain the City's park-like look. Don't neglect your parkway. Keep the area between the curb and sidewalk watered and free of weeds.

Repair any cracks in your driveway and soak up any oil stains with cat litter. Check your roof for missing, broken or curled shingles. Talk to a qualified roofer if you suspect your roof may need to be replaced.
