Repairs approved for reclaimed water main line

December 30, 2020

The Cerritos City Council has approved repairs of a damaged reclaimed water main line located at the intersection of Norwalk Boulevard and 166th Street. Funds in the amount of $247,640.53 will be drawn from the Reclaimed Water Fund for the project. The 16-inch reclaimed water main was constructed in 1985 and services both the east and west sides of the City.

The cost for the initial investigation – including potholing, excavating and backfill – was $25,241.88. Related necessary traffic control and pavement repairs totaled $6,350.65. DMS Consultants, which designed the repair and re-routing of the water main over an existing storm drain box, was paid $4,000 for its services. Permits for the job cost $1,688. An isolation valve was installed at a cost of $32,810. Doty Bros. Construction Co. of Norwalk was awarded a $177,550 contract to perform the repairs on the water main line.

The project, slated to start in January, is expected to take two to three weeks to complete. All residents and businesses within a 300-feet radius of the work site will be notified approximately two weeks before repairs commence.
