Cerritos Library offers Sidewalk Service

While the Cerritos Library is closed to the public during the COVID-19 pandemic, Sidewalk Service is available for cardholders. The pick-up service is available Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cardholders can select up to 10 items (books, audiobooks, CDs and DVDs) from the Cerritos Library's eCatalog ( To place items on hold, fill out the Sidewalk Service request form that is linked from the library's website at Include your name, Cerritos Library card number, phone number, email address and the title and author of each item that you'd like to check out. Please use the eCatalog to ensure that the items are available. You can also place holds by calling (562) 916-1342 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

You will be notified by telephone when the items are ready to be picked up. Upon notification, you have five days to pick up your items. Any items not picked up after five days will be placed back into circulation.

You will be asked to wait at the Library's entrance and your holds will be brought to a table to be retrieved. Be prepared to show your Cerritos Library card, California Driver's License or California I.D. card to staff.

If you are picking up items for others, please present their Cerritos Library Card, California Driver's License or California I.D. card.

Items should be returned in book drops located at Cerritos Park East, Liberty Park or in the Civic Center next to the Sculpture Garden. Returned items will remain on accounts during a quarantine period of seven to eight business days. Overdue fines will not be charged during this time.

The Library staff adheres to all workplace policies and practices to protect employee and public health as directed by the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health's Protocols for Libraries Opening for Curbside Pickup. Patrons are required to wear a face-covering when picking up holds. The pick-up table is disinfected after each pick-up.

The public is able to register for a new Cerritos Library card while the library is closed to the public. Instructions are posted on the library's website at Applications can be submitted online, by mail or over the telephone. After receiving an application, library staff will schedule an appointment for the person to bring their required documents to a table outside the Library for review, and will then issue the new library card if all the information is complete.
