Traffic signal to be modified

December 30, 2019

The Cerritos City Council has approved modifications for the traffic light at the corner of 166th Street and Bloomfield Avenue. A protective-permissive signal, the existing signal will be converted to a fully protective signal for drivers making left turns. This change will apply in all four directions.

Crosstown Electrical & Data, Inc. of Irwindale was awarded a $263,401 contract to make the modifications. The company will also remove and replace the median noses and upgrade the ADA ramps within the intersection. GK & Associates in Diamond Bar will be paid $21,960 to inspect the work. W.G. Zimmerman Engineering in Huntington Beach will be paid $8,778 to design the project and provide construction support and administrative services. Funded with a Highway Safety Improvement Program Caltrans grant, the project is expected to begin in early 2020 and to be completed by mid-year.
