CCPA celebrates 25th anniversary with exciting January lineup

The Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (CCPA) celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2018 with a colorful schedule of acts for the month of January. (The ticket prices listed show the total costs; there are no additional fees.)

Grammy winner and Hall of Famer Led Zeppelin lit up the music scene with a fireball of hits that spanned the globe, including "Stairway to Heaven," "Whole Lotta Love," "Kashmir" and "Black Dog." Tribute band Zeppelin USA revives the legendary band's music and mystique, re-creating the icon's trademark sound in this art-laser, lighting and multimedia show. Start the year off at the CCPA with this concert on Saturday, January 6 at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $65 to $30.

Grammy winner Smokey Robinson presents his timeless hits during a retrospective of his life, career and music. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame icon and Motown pioneer is celebrated for the hits "Just to See Her," "You Really Got a Hold On Me" and "The Tracks of My Tears." The Songwriters' Hall of Fame inductee holds a Grammy Living Legend Award, NARAS Lifetime Achievement Award and the National Medal of Arts Award. Robinson comes to the CCPA on Saturday, January 13 at 8 p.m. The show is sold out.

The Bee Gees rocked the musical world with a string of hits that sold more than 220 million albums worldwide, earning the group an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The "Stayin' Alive – One Night of the Bee Gees" tribute celebrates the Grammy-winning band's legacy with a "Night Fever" of hits, including "Jive Talkin'," "How Deep Is Your Love," "You Should Be Dancing," "Nights on Broadway" and "Lonely Days." Tickets for the show on Sunday, January 14 at 7 p.m. range from $75 to $50.

The Temptations returns to the CCPA on Friday, January 19 at 8 p.m. with its timeless tunes. The Grammy-winning Soul-R&B quintet performs its classic hits, which include "The Way You Do the Things You Do," "My Girl," "Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me)" and "Papa Was a Rolling Stone." Ticket prices range from $85 to $70.

The acclaimed Doo-Wop group The Alley Cats opens the show for comedian Jay Leno on Saturday, January 20 at 8 p.m. "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" dominated late-night television for decades, garnering an Emmy for "Outstanding Comedy, Variety or Music Series." Leno is a best-selling author and a recipient of the People's Choice Award. In 2014, the veteran funnyman was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame and received the prestigious Mark Twain Award for Humor. Tickets for Leno's CCPA appearance range from $120 to $80.

Acclaimed composer Rob Kapilow returns to the CCPA with a "What Makes It Great?" presentation of "BEETHOVEN – Appassionata Piano Sonata" on Wednesday, January 24 at 7:30 p.m. He is joined by pianist HyeJin Kim. An audience Q&A follows the performance. Tickets are $55.

Named one of the best acts in Las Vegas, Society of Seven delivers performances full of "big voices, a little shtick and a lot of heart," hails "The Las Vegas Review-Journal." The group graces the CCPA stage on Friday, January 26 at 8 p.m. with R&B and Soul songstress Lhey Bella. Society of Seven was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Hawaii Academy of Recording Arts in 2007. Tickets range from $75 to $50.

Enjoy "The Best of Doo-Wop Vol. IV" when the genre's icons unite! Sing along with Jay Siegel's Tokens ("The Lion Sleeps Tonight," "Tonight I Fell in Love" and "Portrait of My Love") and The Happenings ("See You in September," "I Got Rhythm" and "My Mammy"). Enjoy The Orlons ("Don't Hang Up," "The Wah-Watusi" and "South Street"), Kid Kyle ("The Diary," "Play Those Oldies, Mr. Dee Jay" and "Gee [But I'd Give the World]") and Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon ("Tallahassee Lassie," "Way Down Yonder in New Orleans" and "Palisades Park"). The Doo-Wop extravaganza takes place Saturday, January 27 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $80 to $65.

Prepare to be amazed when The Golden Dragon Acrobats come to the CCPA on Sunday, January 28 at 3 p.m. The rich culture and colorful traditions of the Chinese people burst forth in this spellbinding display of award-winning acrobatics, traditional dance, spectacular costumes, ancient and contemporary music and theatrical techniques. With grace, agility and acute precision, performers deliver wondrous gymnastic feats in an awe-inspiring display of the Far East's mystique. Tickets for this show are $65 to $45.
