Projects approved for Bloomfield Avenue property and Cerritos Sports Complex

January 2, 2018

The Cerritos City Council has approved projects to improve a property located on Bloomfield Avenue, just south of the Heritage Park Community Center building, as well as the Cerritos Sports Complex. A $950,000 grant from the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors will be applied toward the projects.

The City bought the Bloomfield property with the goal of expanding and improving Heritage Park. Under plans to renovate the area, the existing building and block wall bordering it will be demolished. Landscape will be cleared as well as the driveway and cement areas, including the foundation. A new irrigation system and an 8-foot block wall will be installed. The project cost is estimated to be $267,000.

The remaining grant amount will be used in the renovation of athletic fields at the Cerritos Sports Complex. The upgrades include soil amendment to level the field, modifying the existing irrigation and installing a fertigation injection system to control the pH levels in the soil and maximize turf growth.
