Volunteers sought for Civil Grand Jury

The County of Los Angeles Civil Grand Jury Office is seeking well-qualified citizens to volunteer for the 2018-2019 Civil Grand Jury that will be impaneled on Monday, July 2, 2018.

The Civil Grand Jury is virtually a full-time commitment over a period of one year. The deadline to submit the application form is Friday, November 3. To qualify, an applicant must be a citizen of the United States; at least 18 years of age; a resident of Los Angeles County for at least one year; possess sound judgement, fair character and ordinary intelligence; and have a working knowledge of English.

The responsibilities of the Civil Grand Jury include investigating county, city and joint-power agencies and examining carefully and completely the operations of various government agencies within Los Angeles County.

The Civil Grand Jury requires a 30 to 40 hour-per-week commitment and pays $60 for each full day of service. Participation on the Civil Grand Jury is strictly voluntary. Employers are not obligated to provide participants with time off or to pay their salary when they serve on the Civil Grand Jury.

Any interested citizen who wishes to be considered for nomination may submit an application to the Los Angeles County Civil Grand Jury, Criminal Justice Center Building, 210 West Temple Street, Room 11-506, Los Angeles, CA 90012.
