CCPA presents hit Broadway shows

May 30, 2017

Broadway musicals light up the stage at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (CCPA) this summer.

The award-winning 3-D Theatricals company presents Rodgers & Hammerstein's "Oklahoma!" Based on the play "Green Grow the Lilacs" by Lynn Riggs, the musical features original dances by Agnes de Mille. Show times are Friday, June 30 and July 7 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, July 1 and 8 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.; Sunday, July 2 and 9 at 2 p.m.; and Thursday, July 6 at 7:30 p.m.

This groundbreaking classic, with a live orchestra, is filled with favorites such as "Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin'" and the toe-tapping title song "Oklahoma!"

Lovingly ripped off from the motion picture, Monty Python's "Spamalot" delivers the laughs in an irreverent parody of the adventures and dangers awaiting King Arthur and his Knights of the (very-very-very) Round Table. Featuring a live orchestra, the production is based on Eric Idle's book and lyrics. Music is by John Du Prez and Idle.

"Spamalot" is presented on Friday, August 18 and 25 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, August 19 and 26 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.; Sunday, August 20 and 27 at 2 p.m.; and Thursday, August 24 at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets, starting at $40 for both productions, are available now at cerritoscenter.com or by calling (562) 916-8500.

The CCPA's 2017-2018 Season Brochure will be mailed in June.
