City adopts Hazard Mitigation Plan

December 30, 2016

The Cerritos City Council recently adopted an updated Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP), which is required when applying for federal disaster grants and funds.

Under the federal Management Act of 2000, a current HMP is mandatory for every local, county and state government agency in order to be eligible for disaster-related grants and funding.

The City's newly adopted plan includes updates to infrastructure and addresses the following hazards: earthquakes, flood/dam failure, windstorms, urban fires, pipeline failures/hazardous materials releases, transportation accident/incident, droughts and terrorism.
