Start off 2017 with exciting shows at CCPA

December 30, 2016

The Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (CCPA) rings in the New Year with a variety of enticing shows for all ages.

Kicking things off is Vanessa Williams, a siren on the music charts with the Grammy-nominated hits "The Right Stuff," "Save the Best for Last" and the Oscar-nominated "Colors of the Wind." The Emmy and Tony nominee delivers her greatest hits on Friday, January 13 at 8 p.m.

Enjoy "The Best of Doo-Wop Vol. III" when the genre's icons unite on Saturday, January 14 at 8 p.m. Jam with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group The Legendary Teenagers ("Why Do Fools Fall in Love"), The Fleetwoods ("Come Softly to Me") and Cleveland Still & The Dubs ("Could This Be Magic"). The lineup also includes Brian Hyland ("Sealed With a Kiss"), Jimmy Charles ("A Million to One"), The Olympics ("Western Movies") and The Dukes of Doo-Wop.

Let tight harmonies and slick dance moves take you back to an era of sharkskin suits, flashy cars and martini shakers when Under the Streetlamp performs classics from the American radio songbook. With the rapport of a modern-day Rat Pack, the quartet (including leading cast members of the Tony-winning musical "Jersey Boys") delivers Doo-Wop, Motown, old-time Rock 'n' Roll and favorite songs from The Drifters, The Beach Boys, The Beatles and the Four Seasons at 8 p.m. on Friday, January 20.

With dazzling choreography and explosive percussion, DRUMLine pays homage to the show-style marching popularized at historically black colleges and universities. In a high-octane show on Saturday, January 21 at 8 p.m., the ensemble celebrates an array of genres – including Hip Hop, Soul, Gospel and Jazz.

Grammy winner and Hall of Famer Led Zeppelin lit up the music scene with a fireball of hits, including "Stairway to Heaven," "Whole Lotta Love," "Kashmir" and "Black Dog." Tribute band Zeppelin USA revives the band's music and mystique, re-creating the legend's trademark sound in this art-laser, lighting and multimedia show at 8 p.m. on Saturday, January 28.
