Holiday shows for all ages featured at the CCPA in December

The Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (CCPA) marks the season with holiday shows for all ages. The ticket prices listed show the total costs and there are no additional fees.

Counterculture icon Steppenwolf, led by John Kay, embodied the social and political restlessness of the 1960s and recorded edgy, uncompromising Rock 'n' Roll standards such as "Born to Be Wild," "Magic Carpet Ride" and "Monster." Rock with the rockers when they come to the CCPA on Friday, December 1 at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $100 to $50.

By popular demand, "Merry-Achi Christmas" returns to the CCPA with the nation's premier Sol de México de José Hernández Mariachi, America's first all-female Mariachi – Reyna de Los Angeles – and DanzArts Sabor Mexico Dance Company. The traditional Mexican holiday celebration is at 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 2. Tickets cost $86 to $35.

"Jewel's Handmade Holiday Tour," sponsored in part by Zappos and powered by Hallmark Channel will be presented at 7 p.m. on Sunday, December 3. The Grammy nominee delivers lively holiday tunes and her greatest hits – including "Who Will Save Your Soul," "You Were Meant for Me" and "Foolish Games." A pet adoption area and arts and crafts space will be featured in the lobby for this show. Tickets are $115 to $80.

From Charlie Daniels' Dove Award-winning Gospel albums to his genre-defining Southern Rock anthems, the Grand Ole Opry inductee has ruled the musical landscape with hits such as "Uneasy Rider," "Long Haired Country Boy" and "The Devil Went Down to Georgia." The Charlie Daniels Band plays at 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 7. Tickets range from $75 to $50.

With the rapport of a modern-day Rat Pack, Under the Streetlamp (including leading cast members of the Tony-winning musical "Jersey Boys") delivers Doo-Wop, Motown, old-time Rock 'n' Roll and favorite songs from The Drifters, The Beach Boys, The Beatles and the Four Seasons. Tickets, ranging from $85 to $50, are on sale now for the 8 p.m. show on Friday, December 8.

For 24 seasons, the popular "Colors of Christmas" extravaganza has delighted audiences at the CCPA. The lively annual tradition returns Saturday, December 9 at 8 p.m. with Peabo Bryson in an all-star lineup that includes Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis, Jr.; American Idol champ Ruben Studdard; and Grammy winner Jody Watley delivering holiday tunes and seasonal cheer. Tickets are $100 to $55.

As the Four Seasons' front man, Frankie Valli's distinctive falsetto led the band to the top of the music charts with "Sherry," "Walk Like a Man," "Big Girls Don't Cry" and "Rag Doll." The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group plays at the CCPA on Thursday, December 14 at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $150 to $110.

In a celebration packed with hits, The Hit Men delivers a rockin' showcase of holiday tunes and No. One Platinum songs from Tommy James, Jim Croce, Carly Simon, Three Dog Night, Carole King and Cat Stevens. The Hit Men toured and recorded with some of the biggest names in the music business from the 1960s to 1990s. "The Hit Men Rock 'n' Roll + Christmas Classics" concert is on Friday, December 15 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $75 to $35.

The CCPA presents "The O'Jays Holiday Show" at 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 16. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band performs holiday tunes and classic hits like "Love Train," "Put Your Hands Together," "For the Love of Money" and "I Love Music." Tickets cost $110 to $70.

"Tidings of Jazz & Joy" brings Jazz master Keiko Matsui and multi-instrumentalist-saxophonist Euge Groove to the CCPA on Sunday, December 17 at 3 p.m. The lineup also features singer-songwriter Lindsey Webster and Adam Hawley. Tickets range from $80 to $40.

"The Dave Koz Christmas Tour" returns to Cerritos at 8 p.m. on Friday, December 22 and Saturday, December 23. Led by Grammy nominee and saxophonist extraordinaire Dave Koz, the lineup features Grammy-nominated pianist-composer David Benoit, trumpeter-composer-producer Rick Braun and renowned guitarist Peter White. Tickets for the event are $95 to $50.

Welcome 2018 with "Rockin' New Year's Eve" on Sunday, December 31 at 8 p.m. Hosted by KRTH 101 Legend Mr. Rock N' Roll® Brian Beirne, the lineup includes Jan & Dean's Beach Party Featuring Dean Torrence, who struck it big with Surf hits such as "The Dead Man's Curve"; Vocal Group Hall of Famer The Vogues ("Five O'Clock World"); Pop duo Paul & Paula; and We Five ("Let's Get Together"). Mark Barnett appears as Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Roy Orbison of "Oh, Pretty Woman" fame. The show ends at 10:30 p.m. and does not include a New Year's celebration at midnight. Tickets are $90 to $50.
