"Peter Rabbit Tales" at Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts enhances education through arts experience

April 3, 2017

The Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (CCPA) presented two performances of "Peter Rabbit Tales" on Friday, March 31 as part of its arts education program for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. The shows were made possible and funded by the City of Cerritos.

More than 2,600 students and educators participated from school districts such as ABC Unified School District, Bellflower Unified School District, Compton Unified School District and Long Beach Unified School District.

Both performances were presented for kindergarteners through fifth graders. Enchantment Theatre Company brought Beatrix Potter's "The Tale of Peter Rabbit" to life, following the exploits of Peter and his adventures in Mr. McGregor's garden, outfoxing Mr. Tod and rescuing the Flopsy Bunnies from the disagreeable Tommy Brock. The performances marked Potter's 150th birthday.

"It was a joy to see the expressions and to watch the reactions of all of the students who enjoyed the 'Peter Rabbit Tales' performances," remarked Cerritos Mayor George Ray. "The City of Cerritos is pleased to have been able to present three valuable and entertaining educational performances this season for the benefit of the children in Cerritos and the surrounding communities."
