Get "In the Mood" for magic and more at the CCPA

The Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (CCPA) fills the month of March with music and magic.

"In the Mood" kicks off the month on Sunday, March 6 at 3 p.m. The spirited 1940s swing-era tribute features a big band orchestra, singers, dancers and tunes from icons of the time, including Artie Shaw, Duke Ellington and Benny Goodman.

Composer Rob Kapilow's "What Makes It Great?" presents "From Brigadoon to My Fair Lady: The Songs of Lerner and Loewe" on Wednesday, March 9 at 7:30 p.m. Soprano Amanda Squitieri and baritone Jonathan Estabrooks are also featured.

At 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, "Tribute to the Follies" salutes the Ziegfield Follies, the Follies Bergere and the Palm Springs Follies. The lineup includes Tony Sandler (of the popular Sandler and Young singing duo), "America's Got Talent" winner Olate Dogs and world-champion comedy jugglers the Raspyni Brothers. Also appearing are musician-comedian Pete Barbutti, The Lindy Sisters vocal group, veteran showgirl Dorothy Kloss and singer-dancer Ken Prescott. The Follies Dance Troupe and Follies Orchestra also perform.

Commemorating its 60th anniversary, "It's Magic!" awes audiences with sleight-of-hand illusions, stage tricks and comedy and variety acts at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 13. The lineup consists of Michael Grandinetti, Kyle Knight & Mistie, Dana Daniels, Victor & Diamond and Mickey O'Connor.

With an exciting mix of contemporary world music and pulsating modern rhythms, the hip Barrage 8 has taken the music world by storm. Featuring all the instruments in the modern string family, the group presents an invigorating show on Friday, March 18 at 8 p.m.

With Cab Calloway's grandson C. Calloway Brooks at its helm, the Cab Calloway Orchestra delivers hot jazz, blues, boogie and swing, delighting crowds all over the country. The band appears with Alice Tan Ridley, who electrified the nation with her performance on "America's Got Talent," at the CCPA on Sunday, March 20 at 3 p.m.
