Celebrate the season at the CCPA

December 2, 2016

The Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (CCPA) welcomes the season with holiday shows for all ages.

Called "a musical "hero" by "Rolling Stone" magazine, ukulele sensation Jake Shimabukuro returns to the CCPA on Friday, December 2 at 8 p.m. Praised for his "buoyant musicianship" and "brisk proficiency" by "The New York Times," Shimabukuro has collaborated with some of music's biggest figures, including Bette Midler, Yo-Yo Ma, Ziggy Marley and Chris Botti.

In a colorfully traditional Mexican holiday celebration, the spirit of the season comes alive in "Merry-Achi Christmas" on Saturday, December 3 at 7 p.m. Headlining the exciting extravaganza of holiday songs, dance and festive merriment is the nation's premier Sol de México de José Hernández Mariachi, which is joined by America's first all-female Mariachi – Reyna de Los Angeles – and the Danzarts Sabor Mexico Dance Company.

One of the most successful Irish touring acts of the last 20 years, The Irish Tenors thrills old fans and wins new ones with its euphoric harmonies, lush orchestration and unscripted humor. Accompanied by an orchestra, the Celtic music kings will perform their traditional repertoire, Irish favorites and seasonal classics in "The Irish Tenors Holiday Show With Orchestra" on Sunday, December 4 at 7 p.m.

Grammy winner Wynonna is back in Cerritos – this time with The Big Noise, which the "Wall Street Journal" called "a versatile rock and twang-capable outfit." They have received critical acclaim for the debut "Wynonna & the Big Noise" album, which encompasses pure Country, electric Blues Rock and contemporary Americana. The crooner and her band shake things up on Friday, December 9 at 8 p.m. in "A Wynonna & The Big Noise Christmas."

For 23 seasons, the popular "Colors of Christmas" extravaganza has delighted audiences with holiday tunes and seasonal cheer at the CCPA. The annual tradition returns with Grammy nominee Oleta Adams, Grammy winners Jon Secada and Melissa Manchester and "American Idol" champ Ruben Studdard on Saturday, December 10 at 8 p.m.

The "Donny & Marie Holiday Show" on Thursday, December 15 at 8 p.m. is sold out.

Commemorating its 19th anniversary, the "Dave Koz and Friends Christmas Tour" returns to Cerritos with a festive, high-energy show filled with seasonal tunes and cheer at 8 p.m. on Friday, December 16 and Saturday, December 17. Led by Grammy nominee and saxophonist extraordinaire Dave Koz, the lineup features Jonathan Butler ("Lies"), Kenny Lattimore ("You're My Girl") and R&B singer Valerie Simpson ("Solid" and "Found a Cure") of Ashford & Simpson.

Forget drums, pianos, backing tracks or electronic trickery – it's just catchy, foot-stomping tunes on ukuleles when The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain returns to Cerritos for a holiday show on Sunday, December 18 at 3 p.m. Expect anything – from Tchaikovsky to Lady Gaga and Nirvana and classic holiday hits with audience participation. Get ready for "sheer fun and outright daffiness tied to first-rate musicality and comic timing," says "The New York Times."

Bid farewell to 2016 at "Rockin' New Year's Eve" on Saturday, December 31 at 8 p.m. Hosted by KRTH 101 Legend Mr. Rock N' Roll® Brian Beirne, the Memory Lane Series show features The Kingsmen ("Louie Louie"), The Marcels ("Blue Moon") and The Tokens ("The Lion Sleeps Tonight"). Also performing are Vocal Group Hall of Fame inductees The Four Preps ("26 Miles to Santa Catalina" and "Big Man") and The Chordettes ("Mr. Sandman" and "Lollipop"). This concert includes a New York New Year's Eve countdown at 9 p.m. and the show ends at approximately 10:30 p.m.
