Beware of residential burglars

March 25, 2016

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department reports an increase in residential burglaries throughout the county and urges Cerritos residents to take extra precautions.

If you see strangers loitering, sitting in a parked car or knocking on doors with no apparent business or social purpose, call the Cerritos Sheriff's Station at (562) 860-0044. A deputy will be dispatched to check the neighborhood.

Store jewelry, collectibles and other valuables in a safety deposit box when they are not in use. Home alarm systems and dogs are excellent residential burglary deterrents. Always lock doors and windows when away from home. Do not leave the garage door open if you are inside the home.
