Free emergency response training offered
Updated August 18, 2017
The Cerritos Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is offering disaster and emergency training in September. The class will take place on three consecutive Saturdays – September 2, 9 and 16. Classes will meet from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Cerritos Sheriff's Station/Community Safety Center at 18135 Bloomfield Avenue.
The CERT program is designed to help residents in the event of a disaster or other emergency. Participants receive training in first aid and basic disaster medical operations, light search and rescue, fire safety, and disaster and terrorism management. When emergencies occur, CERT members are able to provide critical support to first responders, give immediate assistance to victims and organize volunteers at a disaster site.
To register for the course or for more information, call the Community Safety Division at (562) 916-1252 or email emerina@cerritos.us.
