Cerritos City Council Meeting Minutes

MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CERRITOS CITY COUNCIL HELD ON MAY 24, 2013

1. CALL TO ORDER

The meeting was called to order at 10:05 a.m. in the Council Chambers at Cerritos City Hall, 18125 Bloomfield Avenue, Cerritos, California.

2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mayor Pro Tem Mark Pulido.

3. ROLL CALL

The following members of the City Council Agency were in attendance:

Council/Agency Member Carol Chen
Council/Agency Member Joseph Cho, Ph.D.
Council/Agency Member George Ray
Mayor Pro Tem/Vice Chair Mark E. Pulido

Mayor/Chair Bruce Barrows arrived at 10:10 a.m.

4. PUBLIC COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS

None.

5. Review and consideration of present and future Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (CCPA) Seasons

The Council discussed various aspects of the upcoming season including estimated added revenue, house configurations, per-ticket prices, overall operational costs for the CCPA, comparison of costs to other City facilities, value of CCPA as part of Towne Center facility, past revenues and subsidies, marketing schemes, Sunday afternoon matinee shows for mature audiences, rush and discounted ticket prices, and the development of a ticket purchasing application for smartphones.

CONSENSUS (Pulido): Directed staff to review opportunities for multi-act festivals at the CCPA.

MOTION: It was moved by Ray and seconded by Pulido to approve staff's recommendations for the 2013-2014 performer schedule at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts as articulated in the agenda report. The motion carried (5 – 0) as follows:

NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

6. ADJOURNMENT

The meeting adjourned at 11:40 a.m.
