Cerritos City Council Meeting Minutes

MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CERRITOS CITY COUNCIL AND THE SUCCESSOR AGENCY TO THE CERRITOS REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY HELD ON MARCH 26, 2013

1. CALL TO ORDER

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Cerritos City Hall, 18125 Bloomfield Avenue, Cerritos, California.

2. INVOCATION

The invocation was provided by Dr. Bill Ebling.

3. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Boy Scout Troop 693.

4. ROLL CALL

9. PUBLIC HEARING NOTICES

9A. Consideration to waive reading of and adopt A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CERRITOS APPROVING THE SUBMITTAL OF A FUNCTIONAL CLASSIFICATION CHANGE TO THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR GRIDLEY ROAD FROM 195TH STREET TO MAPES AVENUE AND MAPES AVENUE FROM GRIDLEY ROAD TO DEL AMO BOULEVARD. (COUNCIL)

A staff report was given by Kanna Vancheswaran, Assistant City Engineer. A PowerPoint Presentation was displayed.

The Mayor opened public comments and the public hearing.

Thomas O'Neill, resident, expressed concerns with the traffic classification of Gridley Road.

Elizabeth Long, resident, inquired as to whether the "25 mile per hour" classification will become permanent.

The Mayor closed public comments and the public hearing.

The Mayor reopened public comments.

Thomas O'Neill, resident, mentioned an advertisement that mapped the area around the subject street site.

MOTION: It was moved by Pulido and seconded by Ray waive further reading and adopt Resolution No. 2013-7, A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CERRITOS APPROVING THE SUBMITTAL OF A FUNCTIONAL CLASSIFICATION CHANGE TO THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR GRIDLEY ROAD FROM 195TH STREET TO MAPES AVENUE AND MAPES AVENUE FROM GRIDLEY ROAD TO DEL AMO BOULEVARD. The motion carried (5 - 0) as follows:

10. NEW AND OLD BUSINESS

MOTION: It was moved by Pulido and seconded by Chen to waive further reading and introduce AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CERRITOS DETERMINING AND DECLARING PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMITS ON CERTAIN STREETS IN THE CITY OF CERRITOS. The motion carried (5 - 0) as follows:

The meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m. in memory of Councilmember Chen's mother-in-law and Selena Ybarra.
