MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CERRITOS
HELD JULY 10, 2008
CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Cerritos City Hall, 18125 Bloomfield Avenue, Cerritos, California.
INVOCATION
Pastor Bill Ebling with the First Baptist Church of Fullerton offered the invocation.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Junior Girl Scout Troop 678 led the assembly in the salute to the flag.
ROLL CALL
The following Members of the City Council were in attendance:

PUBLIC COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS
There were no speakers and the public comments and suggestions portion of the meeting was closed.
CONSENT CALENDAR
Approval of Register of Demands
MOTION: It was moved by Mayor Pro Tem Barrows and seconded by Councilwoman Lee to approve the Register of Demands dated July 10, 2008, Checks 100918 through 101247 in the total amount of $12,326,101.07. The motion carried unanimously.
Approval of Treasurer's Report for the period ending May 31, 2008
MOTION: It was moved by Mayor Pro Tem Barrows and seconded by Councilwoman Lee to approve the Treasurer’s Report for the period ending May 31, 2008. The motion carried unanimously.
Approval of Minutes
MOTION: It was moved by Mayor Pro Tem Barrows and seconded by Councilwoman Lee to approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting of June 26, 2008, as modified. The motion carried unanimously.
PENDING LEGAL MATTERS
Resolution for consideration
Consideration to waive reading of and adopt A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CERRITOS, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON JUNE 3, 2008, DECLARING THE RESULT THEREOF AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS PROVIDED BY PROVISIONS OF THE CITY CHARTER.
MOTION: It was moved by Councilwoman Lee and seconded by Councilman Cho to waive reading of and adopt Resolution No. 2008-22 entitled A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CERRITOS, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON JUNE 3, 2008, DECLARING THE RESULT THEREOF AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS PROVIDED BY PROVISIONS OF THE CITY CHARTER. The motion carried unanimously.
OATH OF OFFICE OF NEWLY ELECTED COUNCILMEMBER
City Clerk Triggs administered the Oath of Office to Councilwoman-elect Carol Chen and she assumed her seat at the dais.
Councilwoman Chen recognized family members and thanked and acknowledged her supporters. She outlined her future goals during her tenure on the Council.
Councilmembers welcomed Councilwoman Chen as a Member of the City Council.

The meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
