9/21/23 Update – Emergency Sewer Repair in Cerritos
September 22, 2023
The Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts (LACSD) has repaired the sewer on Gridley Road. Starting Thursday, September 21, LACSD crews will begin removing their sewer bypass lines. This work will result in traffic impacts at the intersection of South Street and Gridley Road over the next two nights. For anticipated traffic impacts, visit the LACSD website, or email info@lacsd.org or call (562) 908-4288, ext. 2303 with questions.

183rd Street Arterial Pavement Project
September 6, 2023
On September 5, the City began performing street improvements along 183rd Street between Shoemaker Avenue and Carmenita Road. The work consists of replacing the existing asphalt concrete surface and deficient concrete curbs and gutters, sidewalk panels, driveways and wheelchair access ramps. Construction is expected to last approximately two months. Please expect delays during this time.

Carmenita Road and South Street Intersection Improvements
August 18, 2023
Beginning August 22, the City will begin a traffic signal replacement project at the intersection of Carmenita Road (Moody Street) and South Street (Orangethorpe Avenue). This project will provide additional left turn lanes going north and south along Carmenita Road, replace the existing traffic signal and build a new raised median to the south of the intersection. This project is funded in part by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority and is expected to be complete by the summer of 2024. Residential organic waste recycling program in effect

The City's new residential organic waste recycling program expands the list of items to be placed in your green trash cart to include both green waste and food waste. Examples of targeted organic waste now include green waste (previously accepted); coffee grounds; fruits and vegetables; bread, rice and pasta; cheese; meats and bones; food-soiled pizza boxes, paper plates, napkins and paper towels; and paper egg cartons.
