I-605 lane and ramp closures scheduled from Katella Avenue to Telegraph Road

December 1, 2023

Caltrans has announced scheduled overnight lane and ramp closures and daytime ramp closures on Interstate 605 (I-605) to sawcut and replace concrete pavement panels and to install K-rail and crash cushions. The closures are subject to change and are scheduled as follows: From Monday, December 4 through Friday, December 8 expect multiple lane and ramp closures on northbound and southbound I-605 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night from Katella Avenue to just south of State Route 91 (SR-91). Expect both directions of multiple I-605 on- and off-ramps to be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information visit dot.ca.gov.

The Metro light rail line will connect 10 cities in Southeast Los Angeles County and 1.4 million residents with accessible and reliable transit to downtown Los Angeles. The Cerritos City Council is seeking input for an upcoming Strategic Planning Session at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 2 in the Cerritos Park East Malibu Room. Community members are encouraged to submit written comments for this meeting related to the Preliminary Combined Financial Program for Fiscal Year 2024-2025. 9/21/23 Update – Emergency Sewer Repair in Cerritos

The Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts (LACSD) has repaired the sewer on Gridley Road. Starting Thursday, September 21, LACSD crews will begin removing their sewer bypass lines. This work will result in traffic impacts at the intersection of South Street and Gridley Road over the next two nights. For anticipated traffic impacts, visit the LACSD website, or email info@lacsd.org or call (562) 908-4288, ext. 2303 with questions.

183rd Street Arterial Pavement Project

September 6, 2023

On September 5, the City began performing street improvements along 183rd Street between Shoemaker Avenue and Carmenita Road. The work consists of replacing the existing asphalt concrete surface and deficient concrete curbs and gutters, sidewalk panels, driveways and wheelchair access ramps. Construction is expected to last approximately two months. Please expect delays during this time.

Carmenita Road and South Street Intersection Improvements

August 18, 2023

Beginning August 22, the City will begin a traffic signal replacement project at the intersection of Carmenita Road (Moody Street) and South Street (Orangethorpe Avenue). This project will provide additional left turn lanes going north and south along Carmenita Road, replace the existing traffic signal and build a new raised median to the south of the intersection. This project is funded in part by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority and is expected to be complete by the summer of 2024. Residential organic waste recycling program in effect

The City's new residential organic waste recycling program expands the list of items to be placed in your green trash cart to include both green waste and food waste. Examples of targeted organic waste now include green waste (previously accepted); coffee grounds; fruits and vegetables; bread, rice and pasta; cheese; meats and bones; food-soiled pizza boxes, paper plates, napkins and paper towels; and paper egg cartons.
